At HSLC, we are actively working to broaden horizons and in that we aim to prepare our students for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life. Careers education and guidance is an essential part of this, so we ensure that students have access to a structured programme that aims to provide them with timely support to meet their individual needs as well as lots of opportunities to gather the information they need to make the important decisions for their future
All young people need a planned programme of activities both to help them choose appropriate pathways at 14, 16 and 18 and to enable them to manage their careers, career progression and sustain employability throughout their lives. HSLC provides impartial Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) to support students’ transition to further or higher education, vocational training or employment.
HSLC encourages students to aspire and value lifelong learning, provide opportunities to develop and recognise key employability and enterprise skills which are highly valued by employers, colleges, universities and apprenticeship providers.
The CEIAG Programme has been developed to engage parents and local employers, to support our students in becoming employable and aspirational young people in accordance with the recommended Gatsby Benchmarks. The 2019/20 Programme was approved by SLT and HSLC’s governing body in November 2019 and will be reviewed in the Autumn term of 2020.
