DESTINATIONS

Each year we work with our local authority to track our Year 11 and Year 13 students' intended and actual destinations. This not only helps us to evaluate and develop our careers programme, but also allows us to keep in touch with our students. We are always delighted when we welcome back our former students, when they come in to share the career journey experiences with younger students. We now have a fantastic alumni of past students, many of whom support a number of our careers events and activities in school. If you are a former student of HSLC and would like to join our alumni, please email [email protected]

Six students applied to and have taken up course offers at Russell Group Universites – Including The University of York, Newcastle, Liverpool and Leeds.  Three students decided to defer their university places this year.

University courses this year have included, Architecture, Medicine, Music, Journalism, Forensics, Teaching, Midwifery and Law. Thirteen students are studying STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Maths) subjects at University.   Apprenticeships this year have included: Catering and Hospitality, Business and Administration, Elecrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

This year (2021) students have applied to study a range of courses including: Computer Science, Civil Engineering, History & Politics, Nursing, Digital Marketing, Environmental Science, Performing Arts, Physics and Psychology.  Applications to Universities are ranging from Hull, York, Leeds and Nottingham to Bath, Loughbrough and East London.

Due to the pandemic, it has been a difficult year for students seeking apprenticeships and employment, with fewer vacancies arising in the summer term for students to apply for.  So far, we are aware of two students who have been successful in taking up apprenticeships in Nursing (via NHS Health Care Assistant route) and Catering & Hospitality.
