Health and Social Care (Cambridge Technical Level 3)

 

This new qualification in Health and Social Care is for learners 16 years old or over who want to study health science, social care or childcare.  This course gives learners the opportunity to understand how the subject can be applied in a wide range of settings where care takes place.  The subject focuses on the importance of effective communication to promote a person centred approach.  This course gives students the opportunity to develop transferable skills of communication, research, planning, and organisation

This qualification will provide learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress into higher education doing subjects such as nursing, social work or early childhood studies.

This qualification is delivered as a certificate in one year and then can be further enhanced to achieve the extended certificate in the second year.

What will you learn?

You will take 3 units to achieve the Certificate in the first year.

1.        Building positive relationships in Health and Social Care.  This is a piece of coursework which is internally assessed.

2.       Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care.  This is an externally assessed exam.

3.       Health, Safety and Security in Health and Social Care.  This is an externally assessed exam.

Both exams are taken in the first year.

To achieve the extended certificate in the second year you will take the following units.

4.       Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care.  This is an externally assessed exam

5.       Infection Control.  This is an internally assessed piece of coursework

6.       Nutrition for Health. This is an internally assessed piece of coursework.

Entry requirements

Minimum grade C in Health and Social Care

Or

Minimum 5 in English Language or English Literature
