Creative Media

This course aims to teach you  everything about digital media production. It will give you an understanding of employment opportunities, job requirements and working practices in the digital media industry and an understanding of how digital media products are created for specific audiences or markets.

 

This course is delivered from the  Edexcel specification for BTEC Firsts. It is aimed at Level 2 learners and is the equivalent of 1 GCSE. You will achieve a PASS, MERIT or DISTINCTION.

 

The course prepares you for employment in roles such as a junior web developer, television production assistant, website designer, advertising agent, promoter of products. 

 

This course is assessed through practical activities and written  coursework depending on the subject matter PLUS a one hour exam on the basics of media.  Coursework and practical assessments are based on realistic workplace situations and live assignments where appropriate.

 

What will you be learning?

Year 12

The course is delivered over 1 year and includes 4 units:

Unit 1: Digital media sectors and their audiences

This unit is an exam unit and will investigate the basic knowledge about digital media and its products. It will be assessed in the January with a 1 hour exam.

 Unit 2: Planning & pitching a digital    media product to target employers

A coursework unit where you will have to present your ideas to an employer about a new product that you have designed.

 Unit 3: Digital moving image production:

Coursework unit where you will have to create a promotional video for the nw product that you have designed.

 

Unit 5: Digital publishing production:

 

Coursework unit where you will have to create a print advert for the new product that you have designed.
