Absences from School for Exceptional Circumstances

Parents/Carers are required under the Education Act (1996) to ensure that their child attends school regularly. There is, however, a discretionary power held by Headteachers to authorise absence in line with the East Riding Behaviour & Attendance Partnership ‘Absence from School for Exceptional Circumstances Policy’. Please note this is not an entitlement. At HSLC term time holidays will only be authorised on the instruction of the Principal Education Welfare Officer who will have determined that 'exceptional circumstances' exist.

If you would like to request an absence under this Policy then please complete the below 'Request Form'. This request form must be returned to the School for exceptional circumstances points 1 - 5 or to the Principal Education Welfare Officer at the Local Authority for anything else. Before completing the form please ensure that you have read the 'Information for Parents' document provided by the East Riding Behaviour & Attendance Partnership.
