Price Increase to Main School Meal

Dear Parent/Carer

Please be advised that from Monday 3rd November 2014 there will be a price increase to the cost of the main school meal. The current price is £2.20 for a main meal and a dessert. This will increase to £2.30. The school has not implemented a price rise for the last 2 years but due to the continued pressure on the cost of wholesale food we cannot avoid this price increase any longer.
It should be noted that a school meal at HSLC still provides excellent value for money. Our prices remain amongst the lowest when compared with other local secondary schools and we continue to work closely with Harman’s Catering Services who provide the catering service at HSLC. They continue to offer an exciting and varied range of meals, snacks and drinks which are both healthy and nutritious. All of our menus are developed in line with the nutritional standards set by the Schools Food Trust and the Government’s Food Policy in Schools. These can be found on our website.
For our students in receipt of Free School Meals, the increase will be applied to the daily allowance. This will ensure they continue to have access to the main meal and dessert menu.
I ask for your understanding with these price increases and fully appreciate that times are tough. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask them and I’ll do my best to answer them.
Yours sincerely

Dear Parent/Carer

I write further to my letter dated 8th October 2014 regarding the planned industrial action by Unison, Unite the Union and GMB which is due to take place on 14 October 2014.

As required, a risk assessment has been completed. The consequence of this risk assessment is that Hornsea School and Language College will be open to all year groups on Tuesday 14th October 2014. I can confirm that the school day will run as normal and therefore all students should attend their timetabled lessons.

If you have any questions please contact the school office.

Yours sincerely

Planned Industrial Action 14th October

8th October 2014

Dear Parent/Carer

You will probably be aware, through coverage in the national media, that there is planned industrial action by Unison, Unite the Union and GMB which is due to take place on 14 October 2014.

I await further information which will help to inform the risk assessment that will need to be carried out. This risk assessment addresses issues of health, safety and welfare of both students and staff.

At this stage I am not envisaging having to close the school or to partially close it.

I will write to confirm the outcome of the risk assessment and to provide further information as soon as it becomes available.

Yours sincerely

Mr S Lawrence
